JW Marriott Cancun

I spent a week of my honeymoon at the JW Marriott in Cancun. We were absolutely delighted. In spite of not getting good rates (I made reservations not much in advance) we loved every moment. Without hesitation the best hotel I ever stayed (and I have stayed in quite a few). The rooms are large, sparkingly clean, with a delicious bed, small balcony with fantastic ocean view, and a bathroom like a holywood movie scene. The architecture is absouluely lovely, every inch of the very long and wide corridors is carefully furnished with exquisite furniture and flower arrangements replaced daily. The pools are the most beatiful I ever saw. The fantastic and attenive service follows the guests almost into the ocean. Ah, did I mention the spa with its giant jacuzzi and semi-olympic indoor pool ? Did I mention the fantastic restaurant with its fantastic breakfast and quite reasonable prices ?

Trust me: if you want to have a special time do not stay anywhere else.

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for posting this information. For my honeymoon I'm debating between the JW Marriott and the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach. Did you check out that hotel or have you stayed there before? Thanks

I did some checking on the Fiesta Coral (but did not go there), and it looks nice, but maybe not as nice as the JW Marriott. I think the JW is the newest hotel in Cancun, and, believe me, it shows.

I am considering JW Marriott versus Fiesta Americana Coral Beach. Can you comment on one versus the other based on their location and walking distances to shops/restaurants, and also the beach area? Thanks!

hi Roberto,
many thanks for your hotel review! I will be staying there the week of Aug. 4th and can't wait! I too, was having a hard time deciding between the JW and FAGCB, but I just haven't heard any negatives about the JW. Can't wait! Was the hotel crowded, by the way? How was the beach? If you have any more details, please let us know!
ann

Cheryl:

FAGCB is higher up the hotel zone nearer to downtown Cancun. It is located where a lot of "action" is: shopping, bar hopping, etc. But the surf should be calmer there.

JW, Le Meridien, the Ritz are all loacated around Km marker 14, further down the hotel zone, where there's far less development. But the surf is stronger there.

The latter is my personal preference.

Ron,
We just got back yesterday from FA Grand Coral Beach and was very pleased with the resort. If your a beach person that likes to swim in the ocean this is the place since it's on the bay side. I just can't say enough about the beach in Cancun. The rooms were very large and all faced the ocean. I did not go by the JW Marriott but i do know it just recently opened. I would highly reccomend the FA Grand Coral Beach. The only gripe I have is the pool water was very warm which I'm sure is a problem for everybody, but like I said the beach is where we spent all of our time. They have 2 little 10' x 10' platforms you can swim out to that are about 50' out that were wonderful.Hope this helps.
JB

We (a family of 5, children aged 19, 17 and 12) returned home from the JW Marriott on July 22nd. As previously stated, the JW is a magnificent hotel, by far the most luxurious I have ever stayed in. Every detail is tended to, the pool spectacular, and the beach one of the best in Cancun. My only complaint is that is that the JW is "too fancy" for the likes of a family. Would be perfect for a honeymoon or a special anniversary trip. For a family of 5 we needed 2 adjoining rooms. The JW is brand new, openned in 2002 and it sparkles!
