Just Returned From El Salvador

Greetings all,
I've just returned from a three-week trip to El Salvador, including such venues as the Izalco volcano, Montecristo Cloud Forest, many costal regions (Salinitas, Los Cobanos, La Libertad) and Nahuatl Indian villages such as Quisnahuat (that spelling may be off).

My bases of operation were the sprawling capital San Salvador, the very warm western city of Sonsonate, the pleasant city of Santa Ana, and the on-edge town of Zacatecoluca. I spent a minimal amount of cash and ended up haggling over prices quite a bit with local merchants. That alone honed my sloppy spanish like a knife.

If anyone is interested in budget traveling through Central America, El Salvador in particular, or interested in El Salvador in general, I'd be happy to help out with advice and information. And hey, almost any travel situation is bearable if you know what to do: the national airline, Grupo Taca, lost all of my luggage and I had to make my way thorugh El Salvador with only the contents of my carry-on bag. Quite an experience.

Hello Angelo,

I'd like to get some more info from you about your recent trip if possible. In June I will be heading out to El Salvador for three months, but have never been there before. So I'm looking for as much info as possible, i.e what to expect from people, weather, suggested clothing to bring, prices, what to see, etc.

Thanks.

HEy Angelo!

Sounds like you had a blast in El Salvador. Will write you a short note at the e-mail address you posted. I'm looking for some info on "social services" in El Salvador as I'm going down there for a 6 months in September. I'd like to get more background or at the very leastr a mental picture of what I'm taking on. Should you have any info on schools or youth programs etc... I'd appreciate it very much!

Cheers, Peter.

P.S. If there is anyone else planning on being down there this Fall please let me know as we may be able to hook up at one point , or at least share knowledge and stories!

My friend and I will be traveling to Central America for the first time on a budget and will be in El Salvador for a few days or longer. Suggestions on places to see, restaurants, things to do, etc. would be greatly appreciated. If you have any other info. or ideas on other countries we'd love to hear. Thanks for everything. Kari

I'm seeking a travel partner for my Mother who would like to travel to San Salvador/Guatemala City. She is fluent in Spanish, familiar with the area and the culture and has a strong understanding of the people and lifestyle. Mom is visually handicapped and needs assisitance with transport but will pay her own way and contribute to the experince by providing translation and education. We have family in El Salvador with strong ties to El Presidente, any assistance would be helpful, thank you!
