Jungle River Cruise suggested by Leo?

Has anyone who has used Leo as a driver from Monteverde/Arenal to Manual Antonio stopped and taken the Jungle River Cruise he recommends? He doesn't have too much info on it, so I'm hesitant to just jump on board with it.

I'm thinking we'll see plenty of animals on our tours of the rainforest, etc.

Anyone stopped anywhere else interesting along that drive? I've heard the Crocodile River is pretty cool.

Thanks!

He's probably talking about the crocodile/bird watching safaris that depart from Tarcoles. We had a great time on ours (we used Jungle Crocodile Safari), and it was very reasonably priced at $25/person. We saw several crocodiles, including a GIANT (like 15-17 feet), basilisk, iguana and 30-40 species of birds, including scarlet macaws, turquoise-browed motmots, several species of raptors including osprey, etc.

RAC - that sounds pretty cool! If that's the one he's talking about we might do it! Thanks for the info!

We haven't done it, but I'd be interested as long as it's not one where they feed the crocs. Some do and some don't. Just seeing the crocs under the Tarcoles Bridge was very cool. We saw about 15 of them sunning themselves down there.

The two main ones in town both do the feedings--Jungle Crocodile Safari and Crocodile Man. If there's a third one that doesn't do it, they have really poor marketing skills.

The ship has sailed on those crocs being habituated to people and associating them with food, however. The crocs hang around the bridge because they're used to tourists feeding them there. And its' the tourist dollars that are a big reason why the big crocs have been protected--the local community makes more money with them there than without them.

I should add that of course it's not a good thing to feed the crocs, and if you can find a company that doesn't, by all means give them your business. But, if you can't, enjoy the ride with one of the other two. Crocodile feeding is not as bad as feeding monkeys--which is very bad for the monkeys.
