If you have one to recommend, I'd really appreciate it.

sandy-

www.oasishostel.com is the only hostel in PV 130 peso per person for a bunk

but there are budget local style hotels that are similar in price (if you are 2 people traveling together) many on Madero in the 200 to 250 peso range for private rooms w/private bath

kaneda, sorry but I would not recommend the 4 'budget hotels' shown on the website. They are the low end of the tourist hotels in the Hotel Zone/Marina (except La Siesta) and not really backpacker places or guest houses.

My suggestions are:

Oasis hostel

Madero: Villa Del Mar, Ana Liz, Hotel Azteca, Cartegena...

Basilo Badillo: Posada de Roger, Yasmine, Posada Lily

Insurgentes: Belmar, Posada Don Miguel

Agree with Suze (as normal). No way hotels in the 500 to 800 peso range are budget anything!

Ditto to Suze's recommendation on the hotels, you will appreciate being in old town. I favor Posada de Roger, but Yazmin is probably cheaper.

Actually Yasmine's bumped their rates in recent years so is similar in price to Posada Roger now (Roger's is nicer plus has a pool).
