Hotel in Cozumel
Does anyone have any specific recommendations or information regarding either the Iberostar Cozumel or the Hotel
Cozumel & Resort? My husband and I are thinking of planning a last minute trip to Cozumel while the kids are at camp. We are both certified divers, but have never been to Cozumel. Want to stay somewhere nice, but without spending a ton of money as we have other trips planned already. Any advice about either of these hotels?

We enjoyed staying at the Costa Club (formerly the Fiesta Inn). It's walking distance to town - great for working off all that yummy food, and the beach accross from the hotel had great coral for snorkeling. I believe Iberostar is pretty far south on the island, but that may be ok if you wanted to stay put most of the time.

Both are OK. Iberostar is more southerly. It would be a shame not to rent a car for a day and drive around the island and take in San Gervasio (the ruins) and on to Chen Rio and as far as you can go on the other side of Cozumel. You can really only go 1/2 way around, but well worth a days car rental. There is fantastic diving from Cozumel. It is nice to stay near the town if you want to restaurant hop and shop. Most resorts are south however. Snorkeling is great off the El Presidente, Fiesta Americana and Allegro beaches (pre Katrina). Be sure to check the Cozumelmy Cozumel internet site to get reports from people who live there who can tell you which resorts are up to speed. Lucky You, Cozumel is beautiful.

The Coral Princess Resort is about a mile north of town. Very good condo with a great dive shop on premise. They should have some good prices this time of year. Check with Apple Tours or MLT tours or do a Google search for the best price. You might find a deal on timeshare owners web sites for the Coral Princess too.
