Hello Forum Members !!!!!

Have read a lot about this community n i think its time for me n my fiance to put up our honeymoon query !! We from New Delhi, India, and are planning to visit t MEXICO and some part of America around 24th feb for a week in mexico n a week to see other cities n to make an Beach-City combination !!
I would want you experienced comments on :

1). Is this the best time to Visit the Mexico n the beaches in terms of weather, off/peak season !!
2). Which coast or beach would the most suitable for this time keeping in mind that we would not want too hot or too cold, so a stable weather to enjoy the at the beach n scneric views with some water sports please !!
3). If any ideas about VISA requirements for Mexico from India ! WIll getting a US visa get us entry in Mexico too !!
4). n what budget shall we be hoping to end up for a week in any of the beaches at a nice resort or villa !!! We are planning to spend approx $3000 for the honeymoon excluding the travel tickets !!

ANy other inputs will be greatly appreciated please !!!

You are lucky because February is one (if not the one) of the best time to visit Mexico for its weather, rain almost doesn't exist everywhere you want to go. You will also have the chance to come before the highest peak period of the year, which is Semana Santa (last week of March). During Semana Santa, almost every Mexican go to the beach (so actually this is the best time to visit big cities like Mexico City or Guadalajara). Having said this, I think (correct me if i'm wrong) you'll come during the Canadian and American Spring break. So places along the Riviera Maya (Cancun) will be full.

So following what I said above, I think any beach would be quiet similar in term of weather - it is quite dry everywhere, though the Yucatan Peninsula will be a little more humide. Cold doesn't exist on the coasts (Mexico City will be cooler at night) at that time of the year, so expect hot temperatures! Concerning water sports, everywhere you'll find great activities, however Riviera Maya will be the most expensive for that.

Concerning VISA, a Mexico tourist visa is required for citizens of India. However, if you hold a valid visa for the United States you shall not require it to enter in Mexico. Have a look here: http://embamex.sre.gob.mx/india/inde...-section/visas

For your budget, I would say 3000 USD will be very good - obviously this also depends where and what kind of room you're going to book.

Here let me give you the most known resorts: Riviera Maya (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel), Riviera Nayarit (Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita), Huatulco, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Los Cabos.

Huatulco, Acapulco and Ixtapa are the less rushed by foreign visitors so I would say the less expensive (but still marvelous places!).

Good information here, except for one detail about la Semana Santa. It is rarely on the same date because it starts on the Sunday before Easter. This said, this year the Semana will start on April 14 until the 20th. And yes, the place is crowded and prices for lodging is usually higher if you can find anything. I am not sure if this applies to AI hotels.

Yes, it applies to All-Inclusives as well (that the week before and week after Easter Sunday are very busy at all the beach resorts).

@PuraAventura: Is Cancun the best place for us to stay as it may connect us to city n beaches ??? n as u said Riviera Maya (Cancun) may be full by end weel of feb so is that a back drop ????
N with too hot weather u mean we would not get to enjoy the beaches n it will all be vacant ? or that its agood time for a swim n enjoy water sports !!
Will surely have a look on teh resort options u have given

I have seen Europe: Greece/Santorini (too cold) (Too cold),Italy/France (too cold), US (Too cold), Carribeans (40 hour journey from India but good weather condotions )

So mexico/costa rica , Hawaii, Maldives as top options !!!

Just a note avoid the more Northern Coasts such as Cabo or Manzanillo. Nothing North of Puerto Vallarta for assured warm weather.

I just want to make sure am choosing the right kind of Destination for my honeymoon !!! so would u all give thumbs up for it to be Mexico n the baches in feb cos my research tells me its either mexico/ Hawaii or New zealand in thiese months to have a greathoneymoon !!!!

Hello again Kunal!

Well, Cancun could be a good option for you, above all if you want a mix water sport, historical places and just relax at the beach. But to be honest I don't like it very much even if the beaches are stunning, because it is a very expensive place and people there prey on tourists and can sometimes deceive you. Every time I went there I had a bad experience (I know it's not the case for everyone). That's why I prefer recommending places like Ixtapa, Acapulco or Huatulco where people are less used to see dollars everywhere.

When meaning hot weather I'm talking between 30ºC and 35ºC and the sea is delightfully warm, you won't be suffocating don't worry, however be very carful with sunburn!

Cancun area (I like Rivera Maya area, south of Cancun)gives you gorgeous beaches and resorts, lots of special features to pamper you on your honeymoon, close to cool Mayan ruins and the interesting cenotes (caves that you can snorkel in). You can do some nice snorkeling. There is not a "city" experience, unless you go to Merida. You could go to Oaxaca city, a beautiful colonial city with great food and some ruins, then take a flight of less than an hour to Huatulco. Huatulco is south of Acapulco, and offers many beaches, often very uncrowded with surprisingly good snorkeling. In February, you are guaranteed sunshine. Beaches are mostly golden, not white. Two safe towns that can give you an authentic Mexican town experience. You could also go whitewater rafting, birding and visit waterfalls. We stayed in a villa with a private chef. Fantastic, and a great value! Puerta Vallarta has a city, with great food and some shopping, plus some cool beach excursions, but you want to stay south of the town. I don't like the beaches near the Nuevo Vallarta, northern part of town with most of the all-inclusives. Relax and don't rush yourselves on your honeymoon!
