Honeymoon July 2016 Belize
So my fiance and I have had a very hard time trying to narrow down where we want to spend our honeymoon for 7 days this July. First I had done TONS of research and had planned on doing Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda. Then we found out the resort is shutting down for renovations. Then after tons more research we had decided on Maui or Kauai in Hawaii. But after I started digging in I realized just how over priced Hawaii is. The nicest hotels are all $700+ a night if you want a decent view. Drinks are $18-$20 each with tax and tip. Airfare is $1175 a piece and flight time is long.
With that being said my fiance and I have a $10,000 budget. So we can do up to $675 a night (including resort fees, taxes, etc). I would like a nice hotel with good restaurants. Activity wise I love beautiful water and snorkeling (snorkeling is big to me). My fiance likes the water as well but wants to be able to go into the rain-forest and hike some trails. I went to Belize when I was very young and remember staying on an Island but took a tour of the rainforest. We saw howler monkeys and some Mayan ruins. Can anyone help suggest some places and areas we should look at that will meet our needs? Thanks.

Maybe here with a day trip up the New River to the Lamanai Maya site?

Plenty of grt options on the coast or on cayes or atolls. You can split your trip between the beach and a lodge or inn on the mainland close to grt trips to see Mayan sites, caves with artifacts, jungle, waterfalls and more. Belize has lots to offer on both land and sea. Plenty of wonderful options for romantic honeymoons, included renting your own waterfall for the day with lunch and sparkling wines

Belize doesn't have a lot of high end properties a la Little Dix Bay. Most properties will be modest in comparison and generally won't have multiple dining venues. If you stay in areas with towns such as Ambergris or Placencia, you'll have access to restaurants off property.
Are you interested in mostly beach time with perhaps a day trip to see the rainforest/ruins? If you're planning more inland time than that, it would be better to split your stay between jungle and beach locations due to the travel distance from the coast/cayes to inland activities. Few jungle lodges will have AC though.
Belize has good snorkeling/nature/wildlife/ruins and accommodations and food are generally less expensive compared to Hawaiian or Caribbean resorts but the focus is more on the outdoors than the properties themselves.

I love Belize, spend several months a year on Ambergris. But, we don't stay at high end properties when we travel, so, I have no first hand experience to give you.
There are some nice properties on Ambergris, the above mentioned Victoria House, Coco Beach, Las Terrazas, the Phoenix. Not sure I'd consider any of them truly luxurious though.
