HoneyMoon itinerary...advice welcomed
O.K., here's what of got all you pro's out there: We are heading to CR for ten days for our honeymoon on June 5th. Less folks, more green. We fly into San Jose, three nights in Jaco at the Villa Calletas, three nights in TAbacon, and four nights at Allegro Papagayo--doing the all inclusive thing.
I think renting a car is the way to go (4X4) is a must, I guess.
We are definitely canoping it, but other than that, throw out some recommendations people. Any must do off the beaten path stuff. Let's put this bulletin board to use. Thanks

Sounds like a great plan, and congratulations! Travel time would be a bit less if Allegro were in the middle of the itin, but I can understand your wanting to separate the beach times with Arenal.
While in the Papagayo area, be sure to take a day to enjoy the Rincon de la Vieja area north of Liberia. You can canopy there or do the mud baths or hike or horseback ride. There is a very cool place for horseback riding up at Los Inocentes (offered out of Allegro Papagayo).
Don't have any experience with Villa Caleta (have only been to Jaco a couple of times, passing through). But I assume you are planning to drive down to Manuel Antonio one day and tour the park. Early morning best time--closed on Monday.
You'll have a great time! These are 3 wonderful locations. We spent our first vacation in CR at Allegro, made friends there with staff and still visit a few even now when we return to CR, though only a couple are still working at Allegro. Have fun planning!

Congratulations, Jackimus, on your marriage!
I am no authority on the subject, but if you haven't found my notes here on Fodors for enjoying Tabacon, please do a search. If they don't turn up for some reason, let me know and I will search my computer.
This year was our first trip to CR and I plan to visit some of the other places you've named and would be interested in learning your experiences in July(?) when you have time to post...
