Honeymoon in August
Hello everyone,
My fiance and I are thinking of going to Costa Rica in August 14-21 for our honeymoon. We just want to relax, be pampered and enjoy the beach. Is it true it is rainy in Costa Rica at that time? Are there certain parts of Costa Rica that gets more rain than other parts? If anyone has resort recommendations that won't break the bank that would be fantastic.
Also, we are open to other suggestions as well. We are coming from San Francisco so want to take advantage of the time we have. Thank you!

If you're truly looking for beach & water activities, I second Roatan. CR & Belize offer other activities which make them great in their own way. Love all three but would probably pick Roatan for a Honeymoon (West End area). Enjoy!

Hello all,
Thank you for your suggestions. We are open to other suggestions. I never heard of Roatan and started to look into it. It looks amazing! Any resort suggestions in Roatan? Have any of you been there in August?

Yes, and returning in July this year. The rainy season there is later than most of CA, typically starting Octoberish.
In addition to budget options, boutique hotels, and resorts there are lots of rental options. Here is an example, a friend's condo:

If you post your general budget and interests maybe we can help. Happy trails!

Here's a good rainfall weather map for CR. You can mouse over different areas to get an idea of the rain patterns. For a lot of the country, the rainy season begins in May and goes until the end of November, but it varies by area. Manuel Antonio is a very pretty area.

We also really loved Ambergris, Belize. Victoria House is a beautiful romantic place to stay - it's pricey, but there are affordable options too. Not sure what your budget is. Haven't done Roatan, but think it looks amazing too.
