help, i'm leaving tomorrow
I am leaving tomrorow for Buenos Aires, and I really have nothing planned, except for a trip to the Falls. My friend and I are mid 20's , and are looking for cool things to check out in the city. We are staying at Boquitas Pintadas in San Telmo. Has anyone stayed there? ANy suggestions of palces to go at night? I prefer lounge atmospheres rather than discos. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Addendum: Please don't take my above post as criticism. That was not my intent and after reading it I want to clarify that. I am just concerned that you are aboout to embark on a wonderful adventure (perhaps once in a lifetime) and you may miss out on some wonderful things because you haven't planned ahead. That was my point. I want you to have a great time---buy a couple guide books to read on the long plane ride down, perhaps.

As a general travel rule... you should be able to find a tourist office or pick up information from your hotel front desk once you arrive. Ask for nightlift recommendations also from your hotel front desk, or from waiters your own age in the cafes you eat or drink in the neighborhood you are staying.
Secondly I would most definitely buy at least one guidebook TODAY to read on the plane tomorrow!
If you haven't yet go to www.lonelyplanet.com to their BB called Thorn Trees and search Buenos Aires. That board is aimed at a younger crowd than Fodors so might give a few helpful tips.
I'm going to take a wild guess that neither of your speak Spanish? If either do, that will smooth things out alot.

Okay, I need to clarify something. I have bought and read a few guide books. I am just looking for some advice who have actually been to Buenos aires. I just don't want to have some generic guide book vacation...do you understand where I'm coming from? So please, if you have actually been to BA, and have some places that I should check out, that are not listed in the "books", pls let me know. Thanks.
