HELP - find me a new home
Hello everyone,
I'm in a strange (but wonderful) situation where I can live anywhere and do my work as long as I have an internet connection. So, I have been trying to think of the one place that would be PERFECT for me. I really only have three criteria, it has to be Warm, Interesting, and Safe.
I'm from Victoria, BC Canada originally - so some people don't understand why I don't go live back home. It is a beautiful place, and the warmest part of Canada. For me, it's the been there done that kind of thing where it lacks the "interesting" part for me.
I currently live in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil which is definitely warm, and interesting - but not safe. Before here was Scotland, which was safe interesting, but not warm! You see me problem.
If you were in my situation - Where would you live? Any else in Latin America you would particularily recommend to live for a year or two? Remember - safe, interesting, and warm.
On a side note, I set up a site for travelers where they can talk to each other in real time. It's a neat graphical world you can have fun talking to others with similar interests. Definitely worth a look anyways - www.gadgetchat.com . Come by and say hi, I'm in there often.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions - I can't wait to hear your feedback.

Message: What a stupid half-assed way to advertise your website that you set up. By pretending to have a real issue. This is one reason I'll never log onto your lame website!

Message: Earlier today someone posted about how great this website is - seemed like an advertisement. I guess this just confirms it. Come on - you say you can live anywhere in the world. Most European countries aren't going to allow you to set up residency for 2 or 3 years.

Message: Scott may say he's in Brazil but his company is based in Cambridge, MA, where he's worked for years as a code jockey and developer of internet paintball games.
Safe and warm, Scott? How about Havana?

Easy answer ! Move to the "Canada" of Latin America, Costa Rica. It fits all three of your criteria perfectly. Weather is warm, people are friendly, country is safe (as long as you're careful not to drive at night --- those potholes can be DEADLY !).
