Hi Maryanne...

This will be our 5th trip to the Mayan Riviera...In '96 & '97 we stayed at the Diamond Resort (now Allegro Playacar) in the Playacar complex outside of Playa Del Carmen...That was before the building boom!...
In 2000 we stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Playacar...That was the best vacation we every had but $$$$$ and it's getting more expensive every year...
Last November we stayed at the El Dorado Royale outside of Puerto Morelos...We always manage to have a good time but we wouldn't go back there...

You probably can guess that we really love the area...

E-mail me if you have any questions you think I can answer... Checked out that sight. One review seemed pretty good and the other, well, not too good. Now I'm getting a little nervous. I really hope we get the "guaranteed" upgrade for anniversary/honeymoon couples. I have a feeling that won't work out. That was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The guarantee is now taking on different views by the travel agent.
Liz, what would you suggest we DO NOT miss while we're down there? I know we'd really like to go jet skiing. We were also thinking about Excaret or Xel-Ha. Both sound nice. Also. anu good recommendations on snorkeling? Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

We are spending our 20th anniversary in April at the Gran sole in Tulum, I emailed a request to the resort for an upgrade and they were prompt to reply as long as available we could have one for $20. per person a night.
I was in Mexico two years ago, we went to the Tulum runes they were great, one tip take a taxi and get their early also you do not need a guide. If you are bringing a cam corder they will charge you a few dollars to bring it into the site. Xcaret is a must visit you can spend the whole day there check out the web page.
