Good lunch spot

Hello! Need a suggestion for a good place to stop for lunch near San Jose or surrounding areas on our way to MA. Our flight arrives at 11:30 am, we will be famished by then. Would like to stop somewhere for lunch before we hit the road. Keep in mind that we will have all of our luggage in the van, so would prefer somewhere where we can keep an eye on our car. Nothing fancy, but family friendly. Thanks!

If you wanted to just eat at the airport, there's a restaurant called Malinche that has pretty good food.

Thanks will check it out, but was hoping for something on our way. Off of CR27 or perhaps something on Alajuela?

Delicias de Mi Tierra was a lovely little soda in Alajuela when we stopped there in 2008 and 2009. Should be right on the road to Manuel Antonio. You can keep your eyes on your vehicle while eating, and get a very reasonably priced introduction to typical Costa Rican food.

There's a chicken place that's popular close to the airport. I believe the name is Rosti Pollos. Have not tried it, but it gets good reviews. There's also Denny's which Costa Ricans seem to love for some reason.

Thanks RAC & volcanogirl, I'll check both of those out and will pass on the Dennys .
Was looking into a town called Atenas. Only 30 minutes away, off of 27 and some of the restaurants have great views of the surrounding mountains. Have either of you heard about it Or driven through?
