Getting from San Diego to Ensenada

Hi,
I'm planning a sudden trip to Ensenada this month. I will be flying to San Diego and then will want to take the Greyhound or some kind of public transportation from CA to Ensenada. Has anyone done this? Any hints? I've never been to Mexico before.
thanks!
Diana

The only way I found to do this was to take the train to the border, a taxi to the main bus terminal and then a bus to Ensenada. There are many, maybe 1 every hour so plenty of options. The bus I took didn't have a bathroom so I suggest you use the one in the terminal!
It takes only about an hour to go from Tijuana to Ensenada. The taxi drivers speak ENglish enough to get you to the bus terminal. No problem. I used to have a boyfriend in Ensenada and lived in San Francisco. It was not such a big deal, really.

have fun!

Hi,
I'm not sure where you catch a bus---but you can get the trolley from down town,If you have to go to the bus terminal for a bus to Ensenada, you can get a bus at the border (where the trolley drops you,) for about $1 to the manin bus terminal. Most speak English, and everyone is helpful. Beautiful bus ride to Ensenada!

Just wanted to add, you'll probably have to cross the border on foot, but there are taxis all over the place on the other side, negotiate your fare BEFORE the ride to the bus terminal (couple of bucks maybe).

Just a friendly disagreement with Teague, Ive been to ensenada at least a dozen times and the drive has its moments but the thing that is sure to strike you is the impoverishment and the shantys. This is a third world area, and so close to the riches of southern california. Interesting note, every shanty within a 30 mile radius of the border has a satelite dish! Indoor plumbing is a luxury, but television is an automatic!

I have driven to Ensenada more than thirty times. Nearly all of the journey offers spectacular views of the Pacific. Yes you do see some poverty but it is one of the provocative parts of travel.
