Flights to Belize
Can anyone tell me anything about costs of flights into Belize, and if they will come down some? I am planning on flying into Belize City in late July and the cheapest flight from Norfolk VA, which isn't a tiny airport, is 700 dollars. A three hour drive to DC only saves me 200 dollars, but with gas, parking and everything else, it really only saves me about 100 dollars. will prices drop as summer approaches? any suggestions or similar experiences?

US Air just announced a sale to Belize with fares as low as US$210 RT and most under US$250, especially from the East Coast. Sale is for March and April only. This is fairly typical to have the sale at the last minute.

I was just over on Travelocity and they had boo-coo ads for Copa sale fares into Belize --- as low as $159 (though the lowest I could get to pop up from Houston was $259 --- still not bad, IMHO).
By the way....are you able to get dirt-cheap flights into Cancun??? (I've been lately seeing SUPER blow out air-only deals on charter flights heading that way.) If so, it's not a lot over 3 hours to hop the bus from Cancun southwards, cross at Chetumal then on to Belize City...
Have fun!

It's more like 6 hours by bus from Cancun to Chetumal. Basically it's a full day trip from Cancun to Belize City, each way, so unless you get a fabulous airfare deal or just want to spend some time in the Yucatan, I advise flying into Belize City. I've done it both ways many times, and flying into Belize is far easier and better.

Ah yeah, you're right Lan --- wasn't thinking. It's a good 3 hours or more just to get Chetumal. By the time you add in crossing the border and catching an onward bus plus travel time, there's no way you're doing it in under 5.
Thanks for the correction!
