Fishing in Cozumel
We're going to Cozumel at the end of January to relax and golf, but we would also to fish, particularly flyfishing. Any thoughts on who to book through or what to expect? We're seasoned river flyfisherpeople, but understand it is very different in the ocean. We're looking for a new experience, so any tips would help.
Thank You

My husband is an avid flyfisherman and we're heading to the Yucatan this summer for the 1st time. We're unlikely to land on Cozumel but I researched a bit and here's the name that I read over and over in online fish journals and Cozumel references: Carlos Vega

Apparently there are some productive flats in the lagoons on the north end of the island - bonefish and permit plus the usual cast of characters like jacks and grunts. I think they're hard to access without a guide. My husband prefers to walk flats hunting for bonefish and permit on his own so we're still looking for the perfect spot for our beach time.
Good luck and please keep us posted!

Carlos Vega comes highly recommended. My husband has also fished with Tom Martin with good success. (Link below) If you are divers, another good source is always to ask your dive guides. They usually know everything and everyone.
