ferry to cozumel

How simple or difficult is it to get from Cancun to Cozumel with luggage - cruise leaves from Cozumel but we want to spend a few days in Cancun. Thanks

It's easy, if you are traveling without childrens. You can pick a taxi to the ferry dock from your hotel, and Playa del Carmen bus station it's just 3 blocks from the dock. Buses to Cancun departs every 10 or 15 minutes.

You can find more info in this page, with photographs

Good advice from caribbeanguy. The Riviera buses do run often from the Cancun central bus station to Playa--nice buses and cheap. The ferry pier is close (and downhill!) from the bus station but if you have a lot of luggage you can hire one of the men on the "tricycles" to take your bags to the pier. The ferrys run hourly (2 different lines, same price).
If it were me, I would skip Cancun altogether and spend my days in Playa del Carmen! It still has a bit of Mexican atmoshphere left.
Out of curiosity, what ship are you boarding in Cozumel? I am there monthly and see all the ships but didn't know any were available from Cozumel.

Windsurf will be doing Cozumel-Cozumel - does the Bay Islands of Hondorus, Belieze and Playa Maya. Love the ship and will follow it anywhere. After reading the ferry stuff there is no way I would stay in Cancun (wife would not dig the bus). I am planning to stay two nights at Intercont. in Cozumel - any Playa del Carmen hotels that would excite my juices?

Thanks.

Playa also it's a very good choice to spend some days.. There are many options for accomodations, All Inclusive, Boutique hotels, cabañas, depends, what are you looking for?
