Looking into doing an escorted tour of about 12-13 days. Any recommendations on a specific tour or operator. I have looked into Gate 1 and Caravan. We are an active 60 + year old couple.

You could also check with Desafio. We plan everything ourselves but use them for individual tours, and they are excellent. Also we saw a group called Road Scholar tours at one of the places we stayed, and they looked like they were having a blast.

We have done a couple of small group trips with Road Scholar (NZ and Kenya/Tanzania) and highly recommend them. They are a US based non-profit company that focuses on educational trips for older adults. If you have an aversion to group travel, this company could change your mind. Take a look at www.roadscholar.org They have several CR trips of varying lengths on offer. At the very least the itineraries could give an idea of some things to do if you do your own planning. CR is not that difficult to travel in. English is spoken just about everywhere, you can drink the water, and the country is quite small so not too difficult to get around.

e, I'm glad to hear a first hand account of Road Scholar; they had some cool speakers come in at the place where we stayed, and it looked like so much fun and really interesting.
