Easy Way Rent a Car/Mexico

Hey all,

Is there anyone out there who has had experience with Easy Way Rent a Car in Mexico? We'll be picking up a Jeep in Cancun...

Are they reliable? Good quality cars? Hidden costs? Any recommendations for other car companies?

Thanks!
Amy

I think their rates include insurance - so no hidden rates. Make sure you have absolute full coverage since you'll be driving into Sian Kaan.

Some rental places don't even want their cars going down that way and I've heard some void the insurance on the Boca Paila Rd. But currently, the road to Coba is terrible; almost worse than the Boca Paila Rd.

I say...don't ask, don't tell. Many people travel into Sian Kaan without any issues - just be careful.

Hi pepper,
what would I do without you?
thanks again for helpful info!

so just how bad is the Boca Paila road? We have driven lots in Costa Rica and can handle nasty potholes, etc... from what I understand the problem here is that the road is covered in sand, which I realize can be quite treacherous - do you think we'll be ok so long as we've got 4wd?

I actually think the Boca Paila Rd is better than the road to Coba.

The BP Rd is all sand and does get pot-holes, sometimes the size of a small car, but they are easy to manuever in a Jeep - think high-clearance.

The road to Coba is paved and filled with holes that are impossible to predict the depth of. Really easy to damage a tire - which we did and bought a replacement in Valladolid.

Hi guys,

I just would like to warn you about Easy Way Rent a Car which stolen my money.

I rented a car in Easy Way Rent a Car (www.easywayrentacar.com) in Mexico.

They looked very professional so I trusted them, signed the contract and I gave them my credit details as they required.

After all I got a car so everything looked very official but when I give them back the car and returned to my country they clean up my account and took all my money.

I was emailing them and ringing but every time when they heard my voice they hang up the phone.

I believe that I never get my money back but I decided to warn people to prevent of such fraud by Easy Way Rent a Car in the future.

At now I have entrusted this case to the police so hope they will find the way to punish the criminals who prey on our money.

Please be aware.

Best Wishes,
Marcel

It is possible they are mimicking "EZ Car Rental"

http://www.e-zrentacar.com/Locations/Cancun-Airport/

whose rates are competitive and whose service is good. I have rented from them with total satisfaction. I am fairly certain that you can get an SUV or Jeep from them, given some advanced warning.

They are, however, off airport on the main road just south of the airport. They will send a shuttle for you when you come out of the airport. Their location looks like a bad cliche from a Chevy Chase movie, with a little trailer for an office, and mangey looking dogs roaming around the area where they have you wait to have the car brought up. Don't let this seedy facade fool you, however. The cars are in good shape and they take pride in their work.

I rented from Easy Way in January, and they were great. The back windshield wiper just fell off the car one day, and when I returned it they wanted to charge me (the full coverage insurance I bought apparently didn't cover this situation?), but after insisting, they relented and didn't charge me. I would rent from them again without hesitation. They could be a bit difficult to find, but just be sure to watch when they pick you up from the airport, and you shouldn't have any problem finding them when you return.
