Distance and time from Orquideas Inn to Poas and LaPaz please!

We are planning to spend a day touring Poas and LaPaz from Orquideas Inn, but need to be back by 4 PM to drop off our rental car. How long does it take from Orquideas to Poas then over to La Paz and back? Is it an easy drive? Directions, anyone???

Should we have lunch at La Paz, or is there a better place nearby? Thanks!!

Yes, it is a fairly easy drive and well marked. One of the advantages of Orquideas is that it is situated at the edge of town right on the highway to Poas and La Paz. 45 minutes (or less) should do it! Try to be at Poas by 8:30 or 9:00 at the latest to insure a good view of the crater.

You could feasibly spend an hour (or a little more) at Poas looking at the crater and taking a short hike through the secondary forest. From there to La Paz, it's not much further (15-20 minutes perhaps). You can enjoy La Paz in a couple of hours. Time shouldn't be a problem for you. Enjoy!

We enjoyed Chubaca's and Restaurante Dona Julia near Fraijanes (south of where you will be) this past summer. Closer to La Paz, there is a restarant that is mentioned frequently on this board, but I can't remember the name of it! Perhaps someone will help out. Starts with a "C". . . . Colbert's, perhaps? Have a great trip. Is this your first time? You are going to LOVE IT!

YES!!! This is our first time to CR, but I've been talking about it for 8 years!!! Figured we better go before I'm too afraid to zipline! As I get older, I'm not quite so daring!!!

Thanks for all your help and good wishes! Have a wonderful holiday!
