*Dirty monkeys and Spring Break - best beach vacation ever!
Just returned from our best Mexican vacation, ever! Weary teachers needed a restful Spring Break and Villas de Rosas in Aventuras Akumal was the perfect place for that. We wanted a great beach (check), snorkeling (right out front- check) and not crowded (check). The beach is clean, water clear, and the accommodations very comfortable. We wanted to be able to prepare some meals in, and the kitchen at VdR pleased our resident chef. Since there were eleven in our group—we especially appreciated the spacious dining area where we could all fit around the large table. The on-site restaurant was great for food delivered to your room, or to your palapa.
Snorkeling right out front was better than expected--we saw turtles, rays and lots of fish. Kayaks provided by VdR were used by several in our group. Loved the trampoline on the beach--very entertaining watching OTHER folks using that. Beach Bar available as well.
Tony Jr and John (as well as Tony Sr) were very helpful arranging dive trips and transportation for our excursion to Coba (as well as to/from the airport). Reservation process was easy--happy to have paid ahead of time.
During our stay, we took the Sian Ka'an canal tour and the Robinson Crusoe Sail trip, side trips to PDC and Tulum.
Before the week was up we had all decided we would return next year!
*Dirty Monkeys - our group, so named for a drink from Sayulita last year.

cgenster--good to hear from you! We actually had an inflatable monkey on this trip and we left it in the rungs of a palapa resto in Akumal with the promise we need to return on a "rescue" mission.
