Deaprture tax in Costa Rica

It is fairly obvious. At the airport, you will several lines of US tourists, leading up to several windows. I believe in August it was 20 dollars per person. You can, and are encouraged to, pay in US Dollars.

It has gone from $17 to $26. There was a little booth in the main walkway into the airport where you can pay the tax, I am assuming it is still there. You can pay in Dollars, Colones, a combination of the two or have heard by visa.

Yep it is $26.00
I just put $52.00 in an envelope before I even left home, to make sure I had the correct amount upon my return
Yes, ouch for sure...you know the departure tax has been going up every year!!! hmmm
