Costa Verde and Manuel Antonio
I'm interesting in staying a few days at the Costa Verde near Manuel Antonio and would like to hear about anyone's experience there. I am thinking of the studio plus at Costa Verde II, mostly for the views and couples only setting. Is it close to Quepos, or with the restaurants and the bar is there any need to even go to town? How is the food there? How are they at helping with arrangements for excursions? Thanks in advance.

Unless you plan to prepare some of your meals (breakfast?), there is no need to go anywhere. There is a large supermarket about a mile away in the Manual Antonio area. CV II is close to a lot of restaurants, and a taxi will get you to the rest of them. It is also close to the park and public beaches. No a/c. Popular place. Read reviews on Trip Advisor.

Trip Advisor reviews sold it for me. Can anyone comment on how the drive is from San Jose? Flat highway or nail-biting mountain drives (or a nice mix)? Sounds like it's a four or five hour drive.

The drive is not particularly scary. It takes time in the hills on two lane roads if you get behind slow traffic. From SJ it is about 3 hours. From Arenal it took us about 5 hours.
We were in Manuel Antonio in November several years ago. We left Arenal a day early due to cold, rainy, nasty weather. We arrived at CV a day early and asked if they could put us up. They said the only room they had was .... the penthouse at CVII. Darn!!! It was great, but it was only available that night. The rest of our time was in a studio plus at CV. The pool area at CVII is so nice with killer sunsets.
We ate at CV several times and it was fine but as pointed out above, restaurants are handy and easy to get to. Our experience with the staff was fine. They got a great fishing deal for my DH and were helpful with planning the rest of our trip to the Carribean coast.
Have a great trip and report back.

Thanks for all the great info. Is the drive doable in a sedan? A rental car would be less expensive than an SUV. Since I only have a week I'll be spending most my time in MA area and not any super remote places.
