Costa Rica Suv rentals
Hey everyone,
I have been posting up in other forums some info on Car rental agencies to rent an SUV from. What are some good places to rent from that you have personally used. I did research this and virtually every agency there is a warning about….. I just want a good working SUV to use and return. Any advice?
Regards,
Greg

Greg,
I've posted about them before, but we ONLY use Costa Rica Surf. It's a travel agency out of Florida and the owner has direct relationships with three companies from which to choose. We used Europcar booked through Costa Rica Surf.

If you do a few searches under my screen name and Costa Rica, you should find the prior postings.
Good luck!

When i priced car rentals for my 2 week trip this past October I found that some will let you use your own insurance with the exception of the national insurance you MUST pay... The company I enjoyed was Poas car rental. They have a toll free number for you to call from the US. They speak pretty good english and the rates were better because of insurance costs than most.
We had a flat the first night out and called them.. They sent a guy over to where we were (which was over an hour drive) to repair the flat... they actually put on a new tire. I had a mis direction when returning the car and it put us very late to arrive at the aiport.. the crew checked us out in record time and just about flew us to the airport and had someone to take us past the lines to check in so we made our plane..
Be prepared when you rent a car to spend about 45 mins getting the car....its not like in the states.
We rented a BEGO and that was large enough for us and our luggage. I would think 4 max persons. The car got great milage and I only needed 4X 1 time on the entire trip.. got caught in the rains from hurricane Tomas...

I have rented from www.renta4x4incostarica.com They offer a great service, low all-inclusive rates and safe and reliable vehicles. Best thing, they meet you right at the airport, you do not have to go to any office and wait hours to fill up papers. It is a great option.
