costa rica Guanacaste area, is there humidity in hotel rooms?
Thanks, but this time we are going to Costa Rica, staying @ RIU Palace Costa Rica Resort in Guanacaste, the one that just opened its doors in Nov. 2012. We read positive overall reviews on this hotel, However, Do any of you know if this hotel's rooms get humid? Shd we take a dehumidifier?
3 years ago we stayed at A RIU in Los Cabos, Mexico and that RIU had moist rooms, people were complaining, and overnight our clothes got damp, I mean, heavy damp!
So, we just want to be better prepared for conditions. Your helpful comments will be so appreciated.

As before, in reference to your first post, read the reviews on Tripadvisor about the Costa Rican Riu and see that there are complaints about standing in line for reservations and air-conditioning that cuts off when the doors are left open. And again, why return to a hotel chain that has served you poorly in the past? And, one of the jobs of air-conditioning is to remove the humidity from the air-conditioned space. If you had the a/c on, set to cool, and the doors and windows closed, there should be no moisture. (Might help to reply within the posting you start with rather than starting a new one each time.)
All-inclusives, such as this hotel, are not what most responders on this forum are familiar with, so you need to look elsewhere for numerous reviews. However, the question about humidity in hotel rooms has the same answer in Cabo, Costa Rica, Panama, the jungles of Africa, and on and on. Adequate air-conditioning dehumidifies--no need to take your own. Or is all this an April fool's joke?

No april fools, we just don't travel often. I just found out by the travel agent that the room can get humid,(I hadn't mention it, didn't think it would happen again, since it's a new hotel with new air conditioning) so I'm taking the DampRid Hi-Capacity Moisture Absorber. Hope there are not problems travelling/security etc.
don't mind humidity while outside, inside our hotel room we expect cold A/C and dry, that's what the $$$ is suppose to cover.
We are still looking forward to trip.

RampRid is Calcium Cloride which is a powerful humidity absorber in enclosed spaces. It can actually dry out a closet or small room if the space is not opened to further intrusions of moisture. In air-conditioning, this is a non-issue. Again, air-conditioning does and will remove humidity very effectively and efficiently. If your clothing is in an air-conditioned space it will not acquire any dampness. Were your clothes or shoes damaged in Cabo? Gosh, folks worry about snakes, scorpions, falling off the edges of mountainside roads, and swimming with crocodiles, but damp clothes is not a big problem. But sweat-dampened clothes is another problem. Such garments need to be aired out in air-conditioning. If the hotel has a laundry let them worry about it.
In areas of Costa Rica where it is even more humid and there is no air-conditioning (Osa), nothing dries. That ought not to be your problem.
Personally, I would not carry four pounds of a mysterious white powder by air.

We traveled to Cancun in September 2013 and had the same problem with the rooms being extremely humid, which made all our clothes damp and smell. I thought about bringing a dehumidifier until I read your comments about the DampRid. How did that work for yall? Did you have any issue traveling with it? We are going back to Cancun this September and would like to be a little more prepared for the humidity. I have read that humidity in the rooms is common during their summer time. The hotel and staff were amazing but the only downfall was the humidity. Any info or tips would be great!
