Colonia Day trip
I will have a 3 free days (Wed-Fri) in BA in December and want to visit Colonia, Uraguay on one of them. I plan to use the hydrofoil. Is the town market open every day, or only on weekends?

It has been a while since I was in Colonia, but at that time the Craft Market was open every day. Unlike Mikemo I think it is well worth a day trip...the cobbled stone historic area is lovely with shops, museums and restaurants...be sure to keep an eye out for all the antique cars still driven by the locals.

Although in general I think the day trip to Colonia is worthwhile, despite that our friend mike regularly tells one and all not to bother, I'd have to say that if you have only three days here, not to bother. You won't begin to scratch the surface of things to see and do in BA in three days. Colonia is interesting as something to do that's different when you're spending a fair amount of time here, and want to get out of the city for a day.

Sorry, another thought. You said you had 3 free day. I take that to mean you are spending a bunch of time in B.A. If so, there is some charm to Colonia but still I would look for somewhere else. If you have a night free go to Iguazu Falls if you haven't been there.
