coba ruins...can you still climb?

I will be heading to Cancun soon and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it still possible to climb the pyramids at Coba. Also, I understand there is a great underground cenote nearby. Does anyone know the name of the cenote or the location?

The Choo Ha cenote - you can get tickets and directions at Coba. It's only 5 minutes away and totally worth a stop - very otherworldy, cave-like, underground cenote.

And I believe you can still climb at Coba.

Hope this helps,
John

We climbed in late December - awesome! You can rent bikes which is a great way to get around since the different groups are quite a ways apart. A few photos in the Riviera Maya set below. Happy trails!

I haven't been to Cancun in about 4 years. Anything new or on a "must see" list?

We made 2 trips to the area in the last year; check out the Riviera Maya and Yucatán collections with blog and travelogue links below. Happy trails!

We climbed Coba's Nohoch Mul May 5. The other tall pyramid was closed to climbing. I really enjoyed the Coba ruins.

Just Climbed Coba last week. 120 steps to the top! This is an absolute must for anyone who goes to the Yucatan. It's the only Mayan Ruin in the Yucatan that you can still climb.

Also, XPLOR was awesome!- We had a group of 15 people ranging from age 8 to 60. It's an all inclusive day trip- 14 Zip Lines, amphibious Cars to drive, and an underground cenote with stalactites that you can raft or swim. So Fun!

zoebean, sorry but there are other Mayan ruins which you can climb, Ek Balam immediately comes to mind, as do several of the Ruta Puuc ruins. Perhaps you mean of the most well known and visited (CI, Tulum and Coba) that you can only climb at Coba?

Loved Ek Balam! You can climb all over the place, the setting is beautiful, the sculptures are amazing and we had the place to ourselves.
