Clothing for Costa Rica
Can anyone tell me what to pack for a vacation to CR? Plan to do some hiking - what type of shoes to take..and shorts/slacks? Going in December -do we need rain gear?
Should we take travelers checks?
Do we need shots?
Thank you

Check www.costaricabureau.com... they have a suggested packing list on their site. Ticos dress casual. Pack light and wash frequently. Avoid cottons.

Hi,

If you are visiting in December, then
bring a jacket, sweater or sweatshirt.
It's a little cold at night, and if
you go to Monteverde you'll need it.
As for shoes, bring either hiking or
tennis shoes. Bring shorts, T-shirts,
a pair of slacks if you plan to go
dining in San Jose. You shouldn't need rain gear in December.
You don't need any special shots, just
insect repellent.

Good luck,
Luna Nueva

http://www.costaricafriends.com

We went to Costa Rica this last Dec. and it is dry season at that time of the year and very hot. I posted a message the day after I got back under "Is it safe in Costa Rica". It will give you some ideas on what to bring. It is not cool at night, it was hot the whole 2 weeks we were there. We spent 1 week on the Pacific coast and 1 week near Areanal Volcano.
Have a good time!
Kim

We went to CR a couple of years ago and the biggest mistake I made was to bring jeans and other cotton things! Everything STAYED wet the whole time! I'm not sure what kind of traveling you'll be doing, but I didn't see a laundry mat the entire trip!

We LOVED CR, however, and are going back next month. I've stocked up on travel-tec, nylon, fast drying kinds of clothes this time!! The kinds of clothing you can "wash" in the shower with you and hang up to "dry"....

take Tevas and some tennis shoes for walking.

good luck!
