Car Rental

We are planning to rent a car in Costa Rica. We are going first to Arenal and then to Manuel Antonio. Has anyone used USave car rentals? I have not heard of this agency but they are the lowest rate.
Thank you.

Do they have an airport "presence" or a shuttle to the pickup point? Do they deliver free? Will there be additional costs (time and money) of getting to and from the pickup/dropoff point that eat into the savings? Does the cost of the extras that you might want or need (e.g., GPS, extra driver, deposit) seem in line with the extras of other company's charges?

We rented a Suzuki Grand Vitara from U Save at SJO airport in December, 2009 and were pleased. The vehicle was in good condition. We also rented in 2008 from them. The rate was lower than other options. They are located off airport a short ride away. Call them in advance to confirm they will pick you up, we had to call them upon arrival. It is important to get your quote in writing, and finalize the charges when you return the car. An extra $20 popped up on my credit card which they attributed to "late return charges". When I told them I returned the car early, they did not dispute the challenge I raised with my credit card company. Remember they may quote you in dollars but will bill you in colones and when your credit card company translates the exchange at their rate, you may be paying more than you thought. I would use U Save again.

Check out Tricolor Car Rental. They were fairly inexpensive, picked us up at the airport, and there were no extra charges.

Check out Tricolor like katrinab mentioned. www.wild-rider.com is inexpensive, too.
