Cancun: Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach in August

Anybody brave the heat? I've read lots, and people seem to have lots of good things to say about this place. Any good places to eat (moderately priced, since we're blowing our wad on the rooms!)? Please throw in your two cents about the place, and is August unbearable?

Just stayed at Le Meridien for a week, it was great! We went to the Coral Beach. The pool area was great, but the hotel is very large and somehwat overwhelming. If you are looking for service, go to Le Meridien. At eat at La Habichuela!

Yes I would love to hear a detailed descrioption of the rooms at the lemeridien...? Are they large, and comfortable? Luxurious, or just an above average room. I see there are good rates for this hotel online this summer...
Thank you anyone for your input...

The rooms at Le Meridien were really nice. The hotel is only four years old, so everything is very new. The superior room is the basic room, the deluxe is the same but with a balcony. Odd number rooms have a view of the pool area. The rooms have nice furnishings and marble thruout. The bathroom was very large with a separate tub and shower. I thought the rooms were great.

We stayed at Fiesta coral beach in April of this year. This hotel is very nice. All rooms are suites (with sitting rooms, small refrig(mini bar) and all have ocean views. The beach is great there (no pounding waves like further down the beach). The pool is huge and security is high. It is located right in the middle of things so you can walk to where you want to go. I would definitely recommend it.

If you want to try authentic Yucatecan cuisine in a lovely, comfortable setting and at very reasonable prices (all dishes < $10), try Labna. It's a new restuarant opened up by the owners of La Habichuela, just afew doors down from La H in downtown Cancun.

As for La M. We stayed there in early may for 4 nights. Great hotel, just the right size, great service, wonderful spa, lovely pool area. I wish the rooms were a bit bigger, but they're big enough-- however they are nicely decorated and you get bed turndown service.

Just returned. Prices for dining have gone up! However, La Habituela is fabulous and worth the $. Cab fare is $35 round trip from hotel zone - well worth it to get away from the drunk teenagers!La Madonna is nice-very$$$.Worth it to look inside! Its unbelieveable!! Stayed at Fiesta American Condesa. Great. 4th time. Le Meridian looks nice too.Checked out Coral Beach - beach was ok but hotel was too large for us. It all depends on what you want. Le Meridian looks nice, too; much larger=more people. Was hot this trip - I'm sure Aug will be too.
