Cancun Beach Palace - not going "all inclusive" - suggestions?

I am a 50-something mom taking my 23 year old daughter to Cancun as a grad celebration the first week of May. We are not staying all inclusive because I traded for the room thru Interval International. The property seems to be pretty much exclusively "all inclusive". Does anyone know if I might run into any unforseen problems because of this? Will we be able to see the nightly entertainment? Will we get totally ripped off in the on-site restaurants? I could upgrade to all inclusive but the price was too high to justify for 2 very picky, vegetarian eaters.

Also - is a day trip to Isla Myjeres a good idea? We'd like to do some snorkelling.

Never been to Mexico before so any suggestions would be appreciated.

They may ask/require you to purchase the all-inclusive plan during the check in process.

What hotel are you staying in? We've been to resorts in which there was an non-AI option and an AI option. Never seen an issue. We chose the AI option. As for food, I would have hated to pay the excessively high ala cart prices shown on the menu for the average food that was served. Cancun has great restuarants, so don't be tempted to just eat at the resort. Get out and find some to your specific tastes.

The Canucn dining guide might help.

Yes, a day trip to Isla Mujeres is a great idea. Take the ferry over and rent a golf cart for the day and tour the Island. There are some really great beach restuarants and bars.

Oops. Silly me. Didn't see the name of the hotel in the tag line.

You might want to check their web-site and see exactly what is inlcuded in the AI before making a decison.

That hotel sells as an AI. Personally, I have never seen it offered an a non-AI, so I agree they may require you to purchase the AI upon arrival. Check beforehand, so you won't be upset if it doesn't turn out as you planned.

The Palace hotels also offer included tours in their AI plan, which includes Isla Mujeres.
