do not do all inclusive if you are out partying on the town,. You can only come out financially at an all inclusive if you do all your drinking there. Try to get in the hotel named Aristos. Probably one of the most affordable on the Carribean side and located only a couple of blocks from Sr Frogs,
Hogs breath salloon and other popular spots. If you eat outside your hotel you can figure $5 for breakfast and $9-12 for dinner. Yes you can afford to eat in Cancun if you leave your hotel to do so.If this is too expensive you can e-mail me back and I will send you info on Isla Mujeres which is half the price of Cancun and located only 8 miles from Cancun
So how shoudl I go about booking my trip? I am new at thsi all-inclusive-non-inclusive stuff! Shoudl I just book teh flight and hotel seperately and not bother going through any package deal? How much shoudl I esxpect to pay for hotel and flight seperate from teh apckage?
What you said makes sense because I am not a big drinker and when on vacation, definitely not a big eater. I would however like to do some water sports...is that stuff pricey?

Nicoletta

If you book separately it is usually alot more expensive. The package deals are alot better. Try Funjet or Apple vacations. They have charters and you can usually get pretty cheap prices($500 to $800 for 7night vac). They have websites funjet.com and applevacations.com. They also have specials. Just click on HOT DEALS or SIZZLING SPECIALS. They also have all inclusive or non inclusive packages. I have been twice but went non inclusive. There are alot of resturants and even mcdonalds and dunkin donuts and pizza if you want to eat cheap. Have fun!!

WHERE NOT TO STAY IN CANCUN

My husband and I went to Cancun, Mexico the first week of April (3rd - 7th). We made all our reservations and paid for our "all inclusive" trip, (even food), through Travelscape.com. After being home for almost a week, I just cannot ignore the fact that we didn't get what we paid for.
First off, our Continental flight was 2 & 1/2 hours late which necessitated our flying on a later flight to make an even later connecting flight into Cancun. Now, I know that airline delays aren't in your control or influence but, since you do partner with them to provide service to your customers it does and will reflect badly on Travelscape.com.
At the Cancun airport there was no transportation offered by our hotel from or to the airport, so we had to pay for a very expensive taxi ride.
So, finally we arrive to our hotel, Jack Tar Resort Hotel, of which I twice confirmed our reservations and room request that we prepaid for, only to be told that we had no reservations there and that they were going to move us to their other Allegro Resort property. We adamantly refused to be moved and demanded our room. Well, the room we were put in was nothing more than storage space, obviously not what we paid for. We were again moved the following day into a more decent room but, still not what we requested and paid for. Finally, on the third day were we able to get the room we paid for.
The hotel and its rooms were and are in need of maintenance. There appearance in general is one of dinginess. In all three rooms we were in, the shower and drainage did not decently operate, and in our jr. suite, a fair amount of water was leaking out of the wall of which Maintenance knew about since they themselves laid down towels to soak up the water. I mean, what was up with that?
Also, we did go to the other "resort hotel" they wanted to send us to the first night, the "Caribbean" something or other and it looked to be in just as bad a condition as Jack Tar.
As for all the meals included during our stay, after one offered meal, we ate the rest of our meals outside of the hotel. I am sure I can be forgiven for refusing to believe that hot dogs and bologna, (oh, excuse me "Mexican ham"), no matter how they are cooked, dressed or served, are decent food to be served to adults.
Obviously a drastic change needs to made in food and maintenance departments of Allegro Resorts.
We enjoyed Cancun and its beaches and will return again but, next time we'll book our trip through a more reputable travel service/agent and reputable hotel chain, because in all honesty, We cannot and will not recommend Travelscape.com or Allegro Resorts to anyone.

Advice:

1: WWW.airtech.com- discount agency located in NYC. Subscribe to their weekly specials email. You can book RT air one or two weeks in advance for about 300 dollars.

2: Aristos is nice- recommended.

3: You can save pots of money if you stay in town. The bus will take you to any beach you like easily. You can even go to Aristos and use the pool and whatnot- they dont care. The Hotel Canto off Yaxchilan is only 20 bucks a night and is clean and quiet.

4: the bars in town are more fun than the hotel zone

I sympathize with S.L. Our airline lost our luggage for a few hours. I was ok, but my wife left all her swimsuits in it. Plus, our hotel downtown had some very loud guests. You can avoid the taxis at the airport, though. They have shared vans for under $10 per person that go from the airport to downtown, dropping people off at their hotels along the way (at that time - 2 years ago - you bought tickets for these at a booth that sat out in the floor near the gates. It took us maybe half an hour to get to downtown.

First of all I advise against an all inclusive, too many restaurants including fast food, most of which are within walking or bus distance, It is not expensive, probably one of the most budget trips available, thats why it is so popular. Food is about the same as here, let me suggest another website, which is how I planned my trip. Try the message board at www.cancun.com
Cancun is not very expensive at all. We get the best exchange rate of all the countries. I have been down 7 times and personally don't use All inclusive, too many great places to eat and party at. Go with a package deal, you get much better rates. We stay at the Fiesta Americana Cancun..one of 3 Fiesta Americana properties on Cancun.

We stayed at Sun palace, all incl. Drinks watered down and food was mediocre-Room service food was better. Beach was beautiful but it's almost out of hotel zone. Took bus, which was hysterical! Drivers are maniacs! If you can afford to stay around the Aqua World Park area, you can just about walk anywhere. Use your charge, you get a much better exchange rate and everyone took charges. Customs was horrible, over 2 hours! Don't know if I'd go back. Weather was Fabulous, tannest I have ever been. Take sunblock!
