Cancun- Sun Palace Resort/with teenager

I have booked five nights at the Sun Palace Resort in Cancun mid-June for husband, myself, and 16 (almost 17) year old daughter. Now I'm second guessing my choice. Does anyone know if this resort is more geared towards couples and adult singles or do families go there too?

Sun Palace tends to be a quieter place. Cancun Palace is the high energy hotel of the Palace resorts. But, you can visit any one of the Palace resorts and have the same privleges as you do at Sun Palace.

In the evening, the lobby bar has different themes and activities going on at Cancun Palace; casino night, karoake, live bands, dancing, etc. You might want to visit in the evening and check it out.

sun palace does cater more towards couples. so if you can't change your hotel, like mandy said, spend your days at the other Palace resorts & take advantage of the included tours the palace resorts offer - like Xpu-ha - a nice all-inclusive eco-park with a beautiful beach & included catamaran trips, etc. You'll probably want to visit the Moon Palace too - which will be quicker to get to from the Sun Palace. There will be families there too - you won't be the only one!

Thank You Mandy and Sclubb for the replies. Resort hopping sounds like fun, this way we will never be bored at one place. We can't wait to do the tours. My DD is very into Anthropology and Archaeology.

If the trip is for your daughter, I would switch to Cancun Palace. You don't want to be going to too many hotels - you get worn out - it is hot, and once you get there - it seems all you do is walk around and look. Go to CP and let her relax on the beach and pool! She will meet lots of other kids. My son was alone last year and he had no trouble meeting kids - this year he is taking someone - as they mostly do. I would choose CP in a heartbeat.
