Cancun - no spring breakers

I am thinking about Cancun for the 1st week in March. Will I miss the spring breakers? I'm hoping it will be a little early for them. My husband and I are 40+ and looking for a quite place, 4-5* any recommendations?

I think the spring breakers hit Cancun more towards the 2nd and 3rd week of March, but in any case, they tend to gravitate to spring breaker friendly hotels and rowdy bars. The better places won't have the spring breakers. We were there 3rd week in March. On the hotel bus, we were without a doubt the oldest people on the bus (40ish at the time). Once we go to our hotel (Sun Palace) there were no spring breakers in sight.

I would also recommend that you look into the Playa Del Carmen area. There are many very nice hotels and resort and no spring breakers at all. It's also a bit less congested than cancun, not as commericalized with chain restaurants and shopping malls and closer to most of the sites and ruins. We travel with kids so our hotel needs are a bit different than if we didn't, although the Sun Palace was more adult only than family. It was a nice place, but I think there are many others just as nice.

Thanks MFNYC, One question, is it easy, cheap, quick to get into Cancun from Playa del Carmen?

I think there are public buses running along the main highway between the 2 places. Once in PDC, we had no desire to go to Cancun so I haven't explored the options. From the cancun airport, we always had transportation provided with our resort package to shuttle us to and from the airport. There are always taxis, but that would be pricier. Some hotels may offer free shuttle service (I believe any of the palace resorts would). While in PDC, it's also an easy ferry ride to cozumel.

If you post a question about transportation, I'm sure someone would give you all the info you need.

As long as you stay in the 4-5 star hotel range you probably won't be bothered by spring breakers...and you will be early.
Some good hotels -- JW Marriott, Ritz Carlton, LeMeridien...

Consider Isla Mujeres--a small island 10 miles off Cancun. Small town, quiet,
inexpensive,great beach.
