Don't know about Thanksgiving dinner but the Solmar is our favorite place in Cabo. Close enough to walk over the small bluff to town (& yes we have walked back past midnight many times)yet it is secluded from the "party animal" atmosphere that has overtaken most of Cabo in the evenings; wel more so in spring than this time of year. But we do enjoy a night at Cabo Wabo or El Squid. The entire town's water supply is purified so there is no worry there.
Fishing is great. Go to San Jose Del Cabo or Todo Santos. Go to the glass factory & get great Mexican glasses for a buck apiece that cost $10.00 each at Pier I Imports.Eat at Romeo & Juliets and the old trailer park. Have a great time!

We were in Cabo last February, stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental All Inclusive. It was lovely. The area is clean and safe and not at all like the touristy hustle bustle of Cancun etc. We did a sunset cruise out of Cabo which included a "pub crawl" which gave you a real flavor for the downtown area.We would go back again (it was our favorite trip so far..having done St. Kitt's, St.Lucia etc.) but we like to explore new places...the world is sooooo big! Have a great time!

Almost forgot to tell you...it is chilly at night and in the morning! In February anyway. Being used to tropical weather, we weren't quite prepared for the chilly air. It warmed up beautifully diring the day. Another great fun thing to do was rent the RV's (there is a guide). It's safe fun and also gives you a different view of the area. We got ours right across from our resort. Let me know how you liked your trip. Anything else, email me!

Sorry, I meant ATV's. I will tell you more if you are interested. I also took a ride in an Ultralite, over th ocean for 20 minutes for 40.00. I could see schools of rays and other marine life. It was awesome! (I'm female, in my 50's..the only one of our party to try the Ultralite!)

We've been to Cabo many times and is our favorite winter holiday.

Judy is right Dec./Jan./Feb. can equal very cool evenings and mornings. We also noticed (last February) that the ocean seemed much cooler and I found it uncomfortable for snorkeling even mid-day (la nina?). April is probably the best month to visit, we've often gone in late October because the fares and room rates are often discounted.

Our visit visit was in 1983, I think, there were only three resorts on the corridor between San Jose and Cabo, now there's got to be at least 50 with many more in both towns, it's very different now than before, but we still love it because of the climate.

We feel perfectly safe there. We always rent a car - preferably a Jeep to access all the beaches.

We do not convert cash, just take dollars and credit cards. The only time you need pesos is at the PEMEX station to pay for auto fuel. And, while I'm on the subject of PEMEX - that's the only place where I've felt cheated. Get out of the car, point at the pump you want and stand there and watch them then pay in pesos. Even though they are state-owned, I swear they are a pack of opportunistic thieves.

Otherwise, go, make friends with the locals including the beach vendors and have a ball.

Your advice about the PEMEX staions is good. However I want to clear up a misunderstanding. PEMEX is wholly owned and run by the Mexican government. It is nasically a government corporation that is extremely inefficient and very corrupt. They control the petroleum industry. However the individual PEMEX stations may be privately owned like a franchise. This is the same way that an indvidual in the US may own a Shell station. A very good friend of mine owns 4 PEMEX stations.
