Buzios if just for a day?
Hello,
Im doing a trip to Rio in March and wondering if I should do a day trip to Buzios? Id either go up on Saturday or Monday. Ive heard so much about it just wanting insight if it is worth it for such a short time. Thanx in advance.

Buzios is 2.5 hours each way by car, so its a tough trip to do in one day. You are better off trying to stay there at least one night to get the real flavor of the place which is beautiful beaches during the day and rua pedras at night with all the restaurants. Plus how were you thinking of getting there? By taxi at least $100 each way and by bus it would take you much longer like 4 hours each way.

There are 1 day trips that are about 12 hours in length. You will leave Rio around 7am and drive to Buzios. In Buzios you will sail around the beaches and islands while drinking Caipirinhas, after you can have lunch and enjoy some shopping on the Rua das Pedras. R$85 per person.
I agree you should try to stay for some extra days, but if you only have 1 day, there is nothing wrong with getting a taste of the place to see if you want to spend more time there on a future visit.
I say go for it!!!

I love the place, spent 5 days there for the first time in Nov. 2005. You can probably book an excursion through one of the local tourist shops in Rio. I strongly suggest more than 1 day to really enjoy it. I especially enjoyed the Cabo Frio sidetrip excursion I took while there.

To original poster - what did u decide? I will also be in Rio in march, from a tuesday to tuesday, and im considering going to buzio for one or two nights - dont want to miss the hippie fair on sunday in Rio though. Did u figure out which days are best, or how to get down there quickly and cheaply?

Yes i decided to do a night stay on Monday. With my schedule that was all I could get in. Get in contact with therealrio ([email protected]) and they will set you up. I got a great deal on transportation to Buzios and accomadation.
