Buenos Aires, Lafayette Hotel

Hi! My husband and I are considering a trip to Argentina in November 2002. We have seen an air/hotel package on internet but can't find much info on the hotel being used by this package. Name is Lafayette Hotel. Does anyone know anything about it? This package is offered by Analie Tours (www.analietours.com). Does anyone know anything about this tour company?
Thanks.

As I responded to another poster today, here are the ONLY hotels I would suggest in BA.
1. Marriott Plaza-nice gym, small pool
2. Sheraton-big nice gym, huge pool
3. Caeser Park-small poor gym, no pool
4. Alvear Plaza
Two two Plazas (not related) are in gorgeous, historic buildings. The Marriott owned Plaza is my favorite and if they aren't too full, which right now they surely are NOT, you can be upgraded to a gorgeous suite with a terrace and a view of a beautiful park. All four star hotels in BA are SCARY. Prices are cheap there now, go 5 star. This is an elegant city and you will fully experience it at the Marriott Plaza.

November is the prettiest month by the way, imagine enormous 8 lane avenues with miles of giant side-by-side trees dripping purple blossoms. Spring is gorgeous in Argentina. Be sure to shop for antiques in San Telmo also, lots of good stuff on the market there, all European imports.

The previous poster listed several excellent, 5 star hotels as the ONLY choices in BA and goes on to say than all 4 star hotels are scary. It is certainly true that the star sysem in Argentina does not count for much, including some 5 star hotels...BUT....for my taste, there are some OUTSTANDING 4 or even 3 star hotels available....Examples include: Art Suites and Design Suites among the 4 star group and Holiday Inn Express as a 3 star option....check other threads on this board for others.....

I cannot comment on the Lafayette, though it looks decent enough on it web site...Bottom line: If you can afford the 5 star luxury hotels mentioned in the previous post, by all means go for it....but you can find very comfortable lodging in a less expensive alternative....enjoy BA

p.s. I checked the web site of the travel agent you mentioned......you might want to comparison shop...Often if you will arrange your own flight (and there are some very low fares offered right now...see carbone-travel.com or the aa.com websites) and work with a local travel agent ( such as
http://www.argentinago.com) you can save alot of money....The local agent can set everything up for you from the time you arrive to the time you depart...you only need to make one extra call to purchase your international airline tickets....

Hope this helps
