We will land at the DOMESTIC airport in the afternoon, and leave from there early the next morning. Can anyone recommend a hotel near there, or a place to eat? Is there anything we can do in the area? We will not have a car. From what I've found, it seems a bit far to go into the heart of the city just to then have to turn around soon after, but maybe I am mistaken. Any advice is appreciated!

The domestic airport (Aeroparque) is a short cab ride from the heart of the city. It's the international airport (EZE) that is far away. As I remember, it was about 15 minutes from where we stayed (Sheraton Buenos Aires). Cabs in Buenos Aires are really cheap and really plentiful.

Maryanne is exactly right. From Aeroparque the closest hotels are in Palermo. Hotels in Retiro (near Plaza San Martin) are not much further. When you pick up your luggage you will see a row of booths that offer car service. Pick one and arrange transport to a local hotel. Take a cab back the following morning. If you stay in Palermo, there are tons of restaurants where you can enjoy a great meal during your one night stay in BA. Some hotel options, Home Hotel, Bobo, or the new Esplendor Palermo.

There is a Microtel very near the local airport and many places to have dinner. I favor Rodizio.

You could also stay in Palermo or in Retiro, as our foremost expert suggests.

Do NOT take a cab from the line waiting outside the airport. Do as the world-famous drdawggy says and take what we call a "remise".
