I knew we were waiting too late to get exactly what I wanted. My husband has had me researching Panama, CR and Belize. So it looks like CR has won again, but only if we can get in Bosque.

The rooms available for our 2005 trip are - Vista Mar Suite (under the owners office with ocean view), Cabina La Paz and Cabina Almendra (both garden cabinas).

Does anyone have any comments about these?

Also, we could do a combination of 2 nights in a Deluxe and 2 in one of the above.

Any thoughts? Is the ocean view worth moving?

We are hoping to also stay 2 nights at Iguana Lodge while in the Osa.

I think the ocean views are worth a 2/2 split. You're packing light probably. That's what I would do!

Cabina La Paz and Almendra are in the garden location and in my opinion are mot as private as I would like. Vista del Mar does have ocean view but is in a lower level of an office,just as you said. I would probably opt for two nights in a deluxe cabina with one of the other for the other two. The other option is to ask if Casa Blanca is available. This summer we ran into the same problem but because we were willing to move we got regular cabinas, a deluxe and then Casa Blanca for the last night as the same price as a deluxe cabina since they were so full. I would change my dates if possible to get ocean view cabinas rather than stay in the gardens but if it meant not going ask if you can move around. It is not bad, in fact it was kind of fun to stay in different cabinas and they moved everything for us. We have been there twice and absolutely love it. The best cabina in our opinions is Congo, but Mariposa is also nice as it has an outside bathtub and a great view.They will e mail you photos of Vista mar and Almendra if you want.

I have put all the options on the calendar. First 2 weeks of Feb is our travel time.
Bosque is my biggest challenge, as the rest of the trip I am willing to be more flexible with accomodations.

So Phil has sent me availbility for my timeframe. And it looks like I would either have to choose -

1st and 2nd nights Deluxe & 3rd and 4th nights LaPaz or Almendra garden.

OR

All 4 nights in Vista Mar Suite

OR for more confusion

Deluxe, Deluxe, Garden, Deluxe (2 moves may be much?)

One more question please - As I said earlier we are also hoping to stay at the Iquana Lodge for a couple of nights - considering this to be my beach time this trip. Is 6 nights in the Osa going to be too much?

After the Osa we are planning about 4 days for Central Valley travel most likely using Orquideas as our base - Due to your many positive posts.

You are going to have a fabulous vacation. I'm envious of your choices! Absolutely I would choose the deluxe, deluxe, garden, deluxe option. The moving won't be a problem at all. You'll want to be very careful to keep all of your belongings packed and zipped 24-7 anyway (except for those you are attempting to dry --as Karen said, they'll move for you. Piece of cake. Enjoy!

6 nights in paradise too much? Heavens no! I do think it is wise to choose 2 locations, however. It will be perfect!

Definitely take option three, as many nights in deluxe as you can. Really it was fun to move to different cabinas and doing the garden for one night will be something different. Bring good flashlights, and have fun

We have requested deluxe, deluxe, garden, deluxe. Now waiting on confirmation.

We had to do a split once due to the Yoga group that travels down there every year. We stayed in Casa Teca for 2 nights out in the garden area. It was pretty spooky with all the night noises but kind of neat too. We had our meals delivered to us (bless Eduardo!) rather than try to walk that long walk in the dark. They now have lights along the "road" to the garden which they didn't have when we stayed out there. Personally, I would make the moves and only stay out there one night. I was relieved to move into a deluxe cabina for our last two nights.

Bosque is a wonderful place and definitely worth moving around. Once you see those showers in the Deluxe cabinas you will want to get back for one more night!

As far as 6 days on the Osa, don't worry. The two places are very different. I spent 10 days down there last winter jumping around between 4 different places between Puerto Jimenez, Dos Brazos, and Carate and it wasn't nearly enough time.

If possible, try to get one of the newer upstairs rooms at Iguana. Ask them how best to use the hot water. It can get really hot and it is tricky to adjust it. The sunset kayak trip is definitely worth the money if you want to do a tour. This will be the first time in several years that I won't be spending time with them. Because we are splitting our 3 weeks between CR and Panama this year something had to give and, surprise!, Bosque won as well as one other place in that area that my husband wanted to get back to. May try to get down there next summer.

If you are in the Osa area for Valentines day....there is a huge party down on Cabo Matapalo. Loran (Iguana Lodge) dragged me down there a few years ago-it is a public bar/restaurant- just ask anyone either at Bosque or Iguana. It does get rowdy.

I am hoping Jessie or someone else could elaborate on Casa Teca. We will be travelling with our very adventourous children ages 6,9, and 11 but I am somewhat concerned about the trip back after dinner and the isolation of the garden villa. Our other choice id vista mar under the office. We do have one of the deluxe cabins for our last two nights.
