Bosque del Cabo - Lapa cabina

Has anyone stayed in this one? Where is it located and does it have a sleeping loft?

I've stayed in Lapa 3 times. It does not have a loft. It is 3rd from the end, so Mariposa, Congo, Lapa, La Palma, Manglillo, Gecko, Tucan, Pizote, Sol, Bambu. (I may have La Palma & Manglillo reversed, can never remember those 2). It has a wonderful huge deck. If you need a loft, ask if Tucan is open.

Grrrr. I asked repeatedly before I booked if I would get a cabina with a loft and was assured I would. How would they sleep 4 in Lapa? I am worried that it's a bait and switch because it's the week of the get together and I think all the lofts are booked. Which is why I kept asking for assurance I'd get one.

It's unusual for them to assure you that you'd get a particular cabin--they usually make a point to say "we can't guarantee that any particular cabin will be available" blah blah blah.

Yes, but they said I would get one with a sleeping loft because we are four people. I had some flexibility in my dates so I asked which dates a cabina with a loft was available and booked that. Now I have no flexibility and am wondering where my daughters are going to sleep...

Agree with tully, if there's any way you can get Tucan, it's a great cabin with a loft.

I stayed there before and do love it but I know for a fact that it's booked by (now I can't remember name) who is attending the get together.

I would just email Jose or Leo and ask them. They're not really into bait and switch, they don't operate like that.

I hope not! I did forward Jose's email to me to Karen (who is the one who said we have Lapas) so hopefully it's just an oversight. I am just a bit worried because now my flights are locked in and I can't change anything, and I know the kids won't be happy squished into a room intended for two.

Bait and switch is quite a accusation, Monica.

Well, when you're promised one thing before you put down a sizable deposit and then told another after they cash the check, what would you call it?

And just to be clear, I am hoping this is a misunderstanding but you have to see how I would FEEL like it was a bait and switch in my frustration as I was so clear what I needed (I must have sounded like a broken record reiterating "it's a cabina with a sleeping loft right?" in every single communication leading up to me paying my deposit) and they assured me that it was. And now I find out it's not.

I think you will find this all cleared up tomorrow Monica, I can assure you of that.

I think it would have been much more sensible to clear this up with Bosque first, rather than making such claims online.
As I said before, they do not operate like that.

Perhaps I would call it an overbooking, a mistake, an error that an organization with longtime goodstanding might be given a little bit of time to correct. That's all. I would be frustrated if the accomodation I was promised became unavailable as well, I'm just not convinced accusing people for something as decieitful as "bait and switch" is warranted from an org with a upstanding reputation. Besides the fact there would really be no benefit to them in purposely doing so.

Okay, whew, what a relief. It was a mistake on their part on the name they gave me, we're staying in Palma which does have a sleeping loft.

And yes, I know I overreacted but it was quite a shock after I was so clear on what we needed. Trying to make sure all the details are locked down and it's upsetting when something goes awry.

Glad that you got it all worked out. They're good people and wouldn't intentionally do that. When we were at BdC, the folks in Palma had a resident bat!

We would like a resident bat. Or a few resident geckos. But no spiders please!

Perhaps Fodor's could delete this entire "bait and switch" thread since you have now found out it was merely a mistake on the cabina's name that you were given. It really doesn't deserve to be posted out here and have newbies think this is normal operations at BdC.

Okay, if you read the thread you'll see that it turns out fine, so I see no reason to have the thread deleted. If anything, maybe other people will be more patient if problems arise knowing they'll be worked out.
