best place for silver in mexico
I was hoping someone could please direct me to the best place for some custom silver jewelry to be made. (they are my own designs). My trip is starting Sayulita, and then from there I'm wanting to do some exploring. Any ideas?

Are you looking to find one particular silversmith to make some jewelry designs you have created ?
The largest numbers of silversmiths and master silversmiths in MX are historically and still to this day in
Taxco. That is where the art of Mexican silversmithing was born and has continued to br practiced. The town is literally one silver shop after another, artisans selling their own unique designs.
However many towns and cities in other places have very good silversmiths. I have bought from excellent silversmiths in Puebla, Oaxaca, San Migelle, Queretero, Morelia, Patzcuaro, on and on.
In Merida I HIGHLY recommend The grandson of a master silversmith who owns a silver shop called Uxmal de Taxco. the owner's father was a silversmith in Taxco and his grandfather was a master silversmith who learned from and worked with the likes of Matilda de Poulet (Matl), Spratling, Hector Aguilar, Jose Anton, all the well-recognized and highly regarded Taxco silversmiths of the past. Personally I would go to that shop and talk to the owner about bringing my own silver designs to fruition, if I had designs.
I Guess that you can tell that I collect vintage Mexican silver jewelry. Good luck to you. It will not be an inexpensive proposition to get a good silversmith to do this.

I wanted to add some info. I found the business card of the owner of Uxmal de Taxco in Merida. On it I had written that his grandfather was Rafael Dominguez. Rafael Dominguez was a student of William Spratling, who was a highly regarded silversmith in Taxco. Dominguez was also a fabulous silversmith, you can google and see his work.
Uxmal de Taxco is at Calle 60, No. 419A, which borders Parque Santa Ana.
