On the Caribe CR mine is Punta Uva. Beautiful palm and tree backdrop, mellow swimming area near the Punta Uva - point and other areas when the seas are calmer. Always green and lush and lodges etc back from the beach mostly hidden.
Take a look at Punta Uva and other beaches in CR http://rvincent3.photosite.com

Have a wonderful journey!

All the ones the other two have mentioned, and we also enjoy Playa Flamingo and Conchal. Near Hermosa, we liked Playa Panama also. Near Playa Potrero, Playa Penca is pretty.

Santa Teresa and Malpais down on the southern Nicoya Peninsula are gorgeous as well. Playa Grande is very pretty up near Tamarindo. Also, near Montezuma, there is another Playa Grande--haven't been there, but have heard that it is a beautiful beach. There are so many--not white sand/turquoise water like in the Caribbean, but wild and beautiful with fabulous sunsets! Get yourselves a guide book and make a plan. A month is a nice long time to enjoy! We'll be there for a month this summer also--perhaps our paths will cross! Buen viaje!

all the above plus Nosara, halfway down on Nicoya Peninsula.
The beach is very long, white sand, good swimming and surfing, lots of accommodation but still quiet and private.
Last year we had a rented villa in Hermosa, but still had to go to that fantastic beach for 4 days with extra cost.
