Belize-safety concerns-EF Tours

EFT Tours just canceled two excursions as part of an April trip. One to Shark Ray Alley and the other to an animal sanctuary. The reason given was safety. Anyone have any insight as to what the nature of the safety concern might be? Many thanks in advance for replying.

I last visited Belize in October (including Shark Ray Alley) and follow 4 travel forums including this 1; this is the 1st I've heard of it. Which animal sanctuary? Can you ask for a better explanation?

Never heard of EFT tours, but I have heard of disreputable tour operators canceling what their clients have booked and blaming it on safety. So no, nothing has changed for human safety. However, Shark Ray alley has never been 'safe' for the nurse sharks or rays, who are victims of humans getting too close and personal and can compromise their health. What is the other sanc they canceled?

It's described as a howler monkey sanctuary. I don't have a proper name.

Probably the Community Baboon Sanctuary. Sounds to me like they're feeding you a line - I highly doubt they're actually responding to new safety concerns that none of us have heard about.

Safety at either has never been an issue for humans and the howler monkeys have a grt life at the sanctuary. I live here and know.
