BA Accommodation
We will be in BA for two weeks in March and are thinking of renting an apartment. Any suggestions re area &
apartments? I hear the Recoleta area
is great but there is no subway station near by. Any suggestions for day trips?

Hi Traval,
Since no one has responded to yet, here is some info I got from someone who often goes to BA:
If you are spending a week or two in Buenos Aires you can rent an apartment for cheap instead of spending a lot of money on hotels by visiting http://www.buenosairesstay.com
I hear that Palermo (Soho & Hollywood) are fun areas for shops, cafes, etc. Recoleta is more "upscale". Both are safe areas.

Reynolds is a great re-location company..they have all sorts of services for people moving to BA from the UK and elsewhere. If you need a car to pick you up or anything that makes life easier, they will do it..for a price
But our hotel ( the ArtSuits hotel) did the same thing..
good luck!

actually the rental company is
http://www.bytargentina.com/
(without the hyphen)
I will add
http://www.adelsur.com.
I used this company and liked my apartment.
As for area, some people love recoleta, others Palermo. Some others even like the Plaza San Martin area. Its a matter of taste.
If the subte is important to you, look for something close to Santa Fe..
But also consider the colectivos (buses) taxis and walking as ways of getting around.

At least you got some answers now
I have heard some good things recently about adelsur too..There are so many companies in town renting apts, be very careful with your choices..examine the photos closely and ask a million questions.

I booked with this company http://www.apartmentsbaires.com.ar/
last year.
I had RE04 the location was good - easy to get to.
The manager, Daniel, was fantastic. He was eager to practice his English and gave me a card with his phone number, he said "keep this with you all the time then if you lose your key you can call me and I will bring another"
When I first got to BA I showed the cab driver my booking form for the address. The driver took me to Daniel's apartment not the one I had rented. His wife was lovely, explained what had happened, flagged down a cab and made sure he knew the correct address.
The apartment I rented was a studio - fine for a single person but i think too small for a couple (you said 'we' do assuming there are 2 of you"
Recoleta was a great area for me. It was the end of a month long trip and i had a cold so i didn't do as much as i could. There are plenty restaurants and shops and a short walk to Santa Fe - the main shopping street. When I say a short walk I mean it, I have arthritis and i walk with a stick and i just don't do distances. And if your budget is limited there is a cookery school with a restaurant just around the corner.
I would certainly book with Daniel again, if I have the chance to return I may choose a different apartment, not because there was anything wrong, but because I like a change.
