April lake crossing Bariloche to Chile

We are planning a trip April to BA, Iguasu Falls, and Bariloche to Chile. Is the weather too cool to enjoy the lake crossing mid April and to stay overnite in Puella? I know it is Fall then but Baraloche may be rather cool. Thank you for your help.

www.wunderground.com type bariloche argentina in box upper left, then scroll down to historic/archives and get detailed info for any day and any year.

Mike, thanks for that info. I checked on my November visit and it appears it will be chillier than I had thought. Glad you gave me a heads up or some lucky Argentine shop would have been selling this girl some fleece!

I was there for a week with my brother. We had a wonderful time but it was BF (before Fodors). Had a private Spanish lesson in the am. Really grand. I hope to return.

It was the exact time we did the same beautiful trip (in reverse)in '95. Highly recommend it..yes, it was nippy on the lakes (snow on the top of the Osorno Volcano) ..but a sweater under a lined zipper jacket was warm enough for us.

Staying overnight at the sparse little hotel in Puella is the way to do it...tiny village with many walking paths.

We stayed at Das Cataratas hotel on the Brazilian side at Iguasu, and it was lovely. Their evening "churasscaria" was wonderful. In BA we found the Hotel Gran Dora which we liked avery much at less than $100. In Bariloche, we stayed at the downtown Edelweiss with a great fifth floor view of Lake Nahuel Wapi...it was very reasonable then, and being on the road for more than a month we opted for the Edelweisss rather than the renowned Lao Lao (at that time $350)..which is half and hour away.

Camera ready? It's one of the more scenic trips in SA. It was before digitals, but I have great pix ... I can scan a few and send them to you if you wish..just drip me a note and I'll send.

Are you going to spend any time in Chile? Let me know how long and I can make some suggestions for the gorgeous lake district.

Just found your note on Chile. We are only there for 3 days and have a tour of Puerto Varas and the lake district. Most of our time will be in BA, the Falls, Bariloche and then the lake crossing. Only 14 days total. Both of us run out of speed after 14 days. Thanks again for the help.

I hope your Chilean tour takes you to Frutillar on Lake Llanquihue, with Mount Osorno, snow covered volcano looming on the horizon)..sheer tranquil beauty.
Also, while in Puerto Montt, take lunch at the unique and very authentic fishing village of nearby Angelmo...numerous little (tiny) cafes surrounding the fish market).
Enjoy!

Question for those visiting the Brazilian side of the Iguazu(cu) Falls: are you paying the $100. US visa fee?

Dear Tower, We are not spending much time in Chile but hope to return for a longer trip to only Chile in the future. On this trip we are spending most of the time in BA.
