We were there in March 2001. Yes, definitely bring deet. It is the tropics and there are mosquitos everywhere. Of course wherever there is water there are the bugs. The falls are so wondrous. It is truly one of the wonders of the world. Be sure and see both sides and go on the boat ride underneath the falls. If you are staying at the Sheraton spring for a view room. It is worth the extra money.

Thanks for the information....yes, we're planning on taing the boat tour (from what I understand, it's only 20 minutes long?) and we have a falls view room at the Sheraton. (Which I'm sure is very nice but I dont' think we're going to spend much time in the room!)

Anyway we leave on Oct 8 for BA, Iguazu and then on to Machu Picchu and we are really starting to get excited!!!!!!!!!

We were just at Iguazu at the beginning of Sept. and did not see any bugs. It was unusally dry which would affect the mosquitos so maybe that was a plus for the low water volumes. The falls and area were still beautiful and worthwhile seeing. It rained the afternoon we left, and they were hoping for much more rain. The rain and warmer temperatures will bring more bugs. Bring a small bottle of Deet and you will have it if you need it!

We always have Ultrathon (DEET).
We shall be at Iguazu Grand Hot in Nov.
Sheraton is not on our radar screen.

We spent two nights in Puerto Iguazu last November and had no problem with mosquitos or any other "bugs." We took insect repellent with us but didn't use it and it was confiscated by security when we checked in to return to BsAs.

I too hope the rains continue and that the falls are as magnificent when you are there as they were on our trip. We'll never forget our visit there.
