All Saints Day in Santiago

Is there anything particularly worth visiting or attending on All Saints Day in Santiago? Any special events? Festivities?

If you're looking for the colorful Day of the Dead celebrations such as in Mexico, I don't think so. It's a day to attend mass and lay flowers on the graves of relatives in Chile, but beyond that, not much else goes on. In a big city like Santiago, probably even some of those traditions are disappearing.

I had inquired about our group taking a Santiago Adventures culinary tour on 1 Nov and was told that because of the holiday, the markets would be closed.

It's a legal holiday in Chile, so many places are closed. I just think that in a big city like Santiago, you're not going to find the old colorful traditions, and in any case, it's not the same "Day of the Dead" type holiday that it is in Mexico.

It is really worth going to the Cementario General. People may only be laying wreaths and paying homage to the dead, but what wreaths and what homage / choirs, brass bands, 3 meter carpets of roses. It has to be seen to be believed. Of course there will be a million people visiting the cemetery and that in itself is worth the walk.

We'll be arr in Santiago from the Colchagua Valley via auto on 2 Nov and wanted an idea of traffic, restaurants, shops, etc.
We have seen the rituals here in Mexico.
