zihuatanejo without breaking the bank

Looking for accomodations on the beach in Zihuatanejo. Can't afford Villa del Sol or Casa Cante (?). Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Go N of Manzanillo (S of PV) to the very lovely Costalegre. The recent posts on tripadvisor (the SMdA thread) were very helpful.

I know in Puerto Vallarta if you stay a few blocks in from the beach the hotel rates drop dramatically. I'm guessing the same in Zihuat, if you're willing.

I"m thinking btw $100-200/night. I'd hope I could find something on the beach for that price.

Brisas del Mar, Catalina Beach Resort, Sotavento Beach Resort and Villa Mexicana are all in that range, with Brisas del Mar being the nicest. I toured them all this past April and can share my photos. Just email me at [email protected]

We stayed at Catalina Beach Resort about one and one-half years ago. They first gave us a room that hadn't been cleaned. Then the next room had a nice view but a LOT of stairs getting to the beach. We are not picky about rooms, and it was a good thing because it was very old and not too nice. The restaurant food was OK. But it was a long long hike down and up the stairs to the beach. But price is right so if you are not picky... Good Luck.

We stayed at Villa Roca in September which is right next door to Casa que Canta. I loved this hotel and the breakfast was very good. The pool was right outside our room which was furnished in local style annd charming. My husband thinks we paid about $150 per night.
