One more weather question...
I know it's better there in the winter than is "here", but how cool is it in the evenings? I presume a light sweater is order.
And the pools are a little cool in January?
Thanks!

Normally no wrap is necessary. My normal evening attire is short sleeves & shorts. Lows are usually low to mid 70's (early AM) with daily highs near or slightly over 90 with low humidity. I wear jeans w/long sleeve shirt down plus a jacket as I go to the mountains where it gets much colder & the intercity buses keep their ac very low.
Mexican pools are usually on the cool side year round. Ours at the townhouse is not as it is only 5' deep. However The Bay is often warmer than the pools.

Great to hear it's not going to rain, rain, rain for our short 5 days. We'll be on the beach down there in less than 24 hours and can't wait.

What goes on for Day of the Dead in Zihua? Thanks again for the tips!

slsf- what did you think of Zihuatanejo?
We are still on the fence about our trip!
I've read that the ocean is more heavily polluted there than other parts of the Mexican coast.
True?
And am I being paranoid about the crocodiles?
This appears to be a town people either love or just aren't crazy about and I'd love to find out more about this...

Downtown Zihua is not quaint or pretty. But it has great food! La Ropa beach is beautiful, and the views of the bay are incredible, and the water is warm and gentle. When we swam in the water at La Ropa, once in awhile, we did notice a piece of trash floating by, sadly. Not a lot, but there was some...
If I did return, I'd definitely choose a hotel on La Ropa again. We liked Club Intrawest, and had been considering Las Brisas del Mar, but upon seeing the outside of it, were glad we didn't stay there...(but admittedly I'm a picky American spoiled hotel snob.)

Frankie-
Thanks for the response.
Why would you or wouldn't you return and how would you compare it to other places you've been in Mexico (presuming you have..).
Thanks!!

Can Not imagine what turned off Frankie about Brisas del Mar as it's natural wood/stone exterior with huge patios are what most find so attractive about it. add in spacious rooms at very reasonable prices, Possibly the best view on Mexico's West Coast, a most helpful & professional staff makes it a real winner.
Now Club Interwest an US Corp a very nice facility with prices several time higher than Brisas. It would fit in on any Us Beach but not very Mexican IMO.

sorry stew, JMHO, I just didn't think it looked as great in person as in pics, and didn't like the location/beach it was on...
I liked Zihua, but I like Playa del Carmen better -- love the Carribbean water and the energy there, also more to do.
Also would choose PV over Zihua. I really like downtown PV.
I might return to Zihua because of beautiful La Ropa beach and the casual cafes that line the sand. But I wouldn't go again in August.
