Zihuatanejo in June??
would you go to Zihuatanejo in late May-early June? worried it might be too hot and my fussy father said something about flies. any advice on the town and when to go? or not to go?

I'd definitely avoid that part of Mexico that time of year. We were in Puerto Vallarta in April and that was very uncomfortable then. Natives said it can get to 120 easily. Don't know about the flies.

WHAT??? 120 degrees F on the Pacific coast of Mexico in April?!?!? I don't *THINK* so! Have never been to Zihuat but often to Puerto Vallarta in all the months Nov thru April. Temperatures seem fairly consistent in the low to mid 80's. It does get hotter and more humid in the summer months of June, July, and August.

I can't imagine the situation of the poster above, being "very uncomfortable" in PV in April.

Don't know about the flies in Zijuat either, but different areas along the coast line do have different problems i.e., San Blas is famous for sand fleas (?) on the beach, but I've never experienced this in PV.

We spent one week in Zihuatanejo in june of 2001. We rented a house on the bay.
It was a trip we will all remember but it was damn hot and humid. We could sit on our balcony for a certain amount of time but would retreat to the A/C often.
The town was mostly devoid of tourists and the restaurants were begging for customers. We got chewed by some kind of bug when we ate outdoors.
My 77 year-old mother had a wonderful time, she was the one who spent the most time staring at the bay, out on the balcony.

I think the 100+ temps could happen in the San Jose del Cabo/Cabo San Lucas area, where it's quite arid, but not on the coast.

I agree, though, that Zihua would probably be uncomfortable in June.

Whoops, before anyone blasts me, I realize that SJDC/CSL are "on the coast," I just mis-wrote. That area IS much more arid, however. :)

Zihua will be very hot and humid in June. Better December through April.

Los Cabos, however, won't be too bad in June -- because of the geography and persistent breezes.
